Our History
The Pakistan Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry Association (PMBBA) was formally established on 18 February 2026 with the vision of advancing the fields of medical biochemistry and biotechnology in Pakistan. The foundation of PMBBA represents a significant milestone in the unification of professionals, researchers, and students working across diverse domains of biomedical and life sciences.
PMBBA was conceived in response to the growing need for a structured, professional platform that promotes scientific excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based practice. Since its inception, the association has aimed to bridge the gap between academic research, clinical diagnostics, and industrial biotechnology by fostering innovation and knowledge exchange.
The core mission of PMBBA is to enhance professional development through continuous education, advanced training programs, and the establishment of standardized scientific practices. The association actively promotes high-quality research in areas such as molecular diagnostics, genomics, proteomics, clinical biochemistry, and translational medicine, aligning its goals with global scientific advancements.
PMBBA is also committed to capacity building by organizing workshops, seminars, conferences, and collaborative research initiatives. These activities are designed to strengthen technical expertise, encourage critical thinking, and support young scientists in their academic and professional growth. Furthermore, the association plays a key role in advocating for the recognition and integration of biochemists and biotechnologists within the healthcare system.
In addition to its educational and research initiatives, PMBBA strives to contribute to public health by promoting awareness of emerging diseases, diagnostic technologies, and preventive healthcare strategies. The association envisions becoming a leading national body that not only represents its members but also contributes meaningfully to scientific policy-making and healthcare improvement in Pakistan.
